These products claim to solve all our skin care problems, from reversing the aging process to making our skin radiant and youthful. These beauty products create a buzz in the market because celebrities and social media influencers endorse them. Often we don’t really know if these products really live up to their claims. Enter one such product: the jade roller.

The jade roller seems to have taken the beauty market by storm. You see it everywhere on social media and the results seem incredible. So where did this jade roller fury come from?

What is a Jade Roller?

A real piece of jade should feel cold and smooth to the touch. Hold it in the palm of your hand, and if it stays cool, then it’s real.

A jade roller is a hand-held massaging tool that has a rounded, polished piece of jade attached at the end. Most jade rollers have a big stone on one end to massage the larger areas of your face such as your forehead, cheeks, chin, neck, chest, and a smaller stone for massaging your nose and eyes.

Origin of the Jade Roller

If we go back to ancient Chinese, Mayan, and Egyptian history, we learn that jade was used even then to massage the skin and keep it beautiful and relieve pain. In the Qing Dynasty, it is believed that jade rollers were the tool of choice for Chinese noblewomen. The powers of jade, known as the stone of heaven, are said to bring prosperity, vitality, longevity, and healing.

Science Behind the Jade Roller

The science behind the jade roller is a bit sketchy. There is no solid scientific research to back up the claims that the jade roller will do what it purports to do, but many dermatologists say that massaging your skin with this crystal rolling pin can’t hurt.

Benefits of the Jade Roller

The jade roller’s main benefit is that it is supposed to massage the lymphatic system to help it drain of impurities and toxins. Fluids that accumulate in the soft tissues of the eyes and face can eventually change the texture of a person’s skin. Using a jade roller can send the fluid back in the lymphatic system and help with depuffing the skin.

Some other benefits of the jade roller include

  • increased circulation
  • relaxed facial muscles
  • decreased inflammation
  • depuffing of the eyes
  • firming skin texture

How to Incorporate the Jade Roller in Your Beauty Routine

The first thing you should do is keep your jade roller in your refrigerator. The coolness of the crystal helps in the depuffing process.

Apply moisturizing cream or serum.

Using the larger stone, work your way up from the bottom of the face and roll toward the ear and across the jaw. Continue this, covering your entire cheek area. Then roll from your nose outward over your cheek toward your ear. Roll your forehead from your eyebrows to the hairline.

To target the undereye bags and dark circles, use the smaller stone. Start at the lower inner eyelid and roll toward your temple. Roll over your eyebrows.

Final Thoughts on the Jade Roller

Every woman knows that beauty begins with great skin. Incorporating a jade roller in your beauty routine will definitely help your skin care products penetrate your skin and will make your skin feel better. With regular use, you may see your puffiness decrease and a clearer more glowing complexion emerge.

I can certainly say one thing for the jade roller, it certainly does feel good on my skin!
