It’s True: Eating Chocolate Cake for Breakfast Will Help You Lose Weight

Groundbreaking research has found that eating chocolate cake for breakfast can actually help you lose weight. How can this be? Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, the science backs it up.

Chocolate Cake is the New Breakfast of Champions

Although it sounds like an oxymoron, loading up on sugar and carbs first thing in the morning helps you burn fat, the logic behind it makes sense. If you have your sweet binge first thing in the morning, it will prevent cravings later on in the day. And, you’ll have the rest of the day to burn off the calories. So, you get to have your cake and eat it too. You’ll feel satiated and not crave sugar for the rest of the day. Sounds like a winning combination to me.

The Science Backs It Up: Have Your Chocolate Cake and Eat It Too

have some chocolate cake for breakfast and shed those pesky pounds

A research team at Tel Aviv University concluded that having a big breakfast topped with dessert, aka chocolate cake, helped participants lose weight. Over a 32 week period, participants who topped off their breakfast with dessert lost an average of 40 lbs. That’s incredible considering that they lost more than the control group who were kept of sweets.  (It is important to note that participants were non-diabetic adults. Please consult with your doctor before embarking on any weight loss plan.)

As part of a healthy and balanced weight loss program, indulging in the morning actually helps you burn off those calories throughout the day because the metabolism is most active during the morning.

Moreover, restriction diets barely work. They work on a reverse psychology level, creating an addition to the foods that are off limits, increasing cravings that are hard to resist, and invariably cheating on your diet.

The Verdict is In: Eat More Chocolate

dark chocolate will not only help you lose weight but also improve mood and cognitive function

What’s even better is that another study found that eating chocolate every day (especially dark chocolate) led to increased brain power, improves your memory, and elevates your mood! Yes, your cognitive function and your state of mind actually get better by adding chocolate to your diet. But we already knew that, right?

It seems to me that chocolate is a superhero of foods. What more can a girl ask for? Chocolate cake for breakfast for weight loss and boosted brain cells? Excuse my while I go have a piece of devil’s food cake.
